Episode 602- Your Way Back to Simplicity When the World Feels Like Too Much with Rosanne Terzian RN, CLC

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

In Episode 562, I am joined by the wonderful Rosanne Terzian. We go way back as mothers and friends, and our conversation explores our shared backgrounds—comparing the beautiful traditions of Armenian and Italian Catholicism—and how those cultural roots shaped the women we are today.

As a Certified Wholeness Coach and RN, self-taught in the writings and practices of St. Hildegard of Bingen, Rosanne blends her healthcare background with a passion for helping individuals achieve holistic wellness of body, mind, and soul. She believes, like St. Hildegard, that God has provided everything we need for wellness, and that self-knowledge and scripture-based prayer are the first steps to mitigate disease and live a balanced life.

Rosanne shares her incredible journey from the front lines of nursing to her current calling in spiritual coaching. We talk about the deep, vulnerable connections made at the bedside and how she was inspired by the mystic St. Hildegard to help women find wellness through faith and virtue.

We don’t shy away from the hard stuff, either. We tackle the "modern addictions" that sneak into our lives—like the endless scrolling on social media and the trap of consumerism—and how we can use prayer, chanting, and stillness to break free. If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, this episode is your permission to slow down, breathe, and remember that you are a child of God.

In this episode, we discuss:

·       The Vocation of Nursing: The sacred moments of connecting with patients in their most vulnerable states.

·       St. Hildegard of Bingen: How this pioneer's ancient teachings on wellness and virtue still matter today.

·       Breaking Modern Addictions: Moving away from the noise of shopping and social media toward true stillness.

·       The Power of Retreats: Why every woman needs a dedicated space to disconnect from daily demands to reconnect with herself and God.

·       The Gift of Presence: Learning how to be truly "there" for our loved ones and ourselves.

"We are God's children, and sometimes the best thing we can do is just be still and listen."

SIX HUNDRED EPISODES! Can you believe it?! I am absolutely over the moon to be celebrating this massive milestone with all of you today. For Episode 600, I wanted to bring you something truly special, high-energy, and a reminder that life is meant to be lived out loud—and yes, you can have the absolute best time ever while sober or just choosing not to drink!

Joining me for this diamond anniversary episode is the incredible Kari Long. We are diving deep into my latest obsession: Mahjong! 🎲

Kari and I pull back the curtain on this beautiful game, from its fascinating 1920s American roots to the way it is taking over the modern social scene. But this isn't just about tiles and racks; it’s about the magic of connection. We get real about how tough it can be to make friends as an adult and how Mahjong acts as the perfect, low-pressure bridge to build a community that actually sticks.

In this episode, we’re talking about:

·       The Adult Friendship Hack: How to find your "tribe" without a cocktail in hand.

·       Mental Health Wins: Why Mahjong is basically a workout for your brain and a hug for your soul.

·       Inclusivity & Growth: Why this isn't just "your grandma’s game" anymore (men are joining the fun, too!).

·       The Power of Faith: How leaning into faith helps us navigate the bumpy parts of life’s journey.

·       Teaching the Game: Kari shares her secrets to mastering the strategy and why "Mahjong is here to stay!"

Episode 596 Baker Act Lifelines: Mark Astor's Legal Hack to Rescue Families from Addiction Hell!

mark G astor esq

Want to watch the podcast, here is the YouTube Link

https://www.youtube.com/@elizabethchance

Welcome back, Bizzy Fam! In Episode 596, we are diving into a heavy but absolutely critical topic that touches so many families: the legal side of mental health and addiction.

I sat down with legal advocate Mark Astor, a powerhouse attorney who has been in the game since 1994. Mark’s background is incredible—born and raised in the UK, he started his career right here as a Palm Beach County Assistant State Attorney, handling thousands of cases from misdemeanors to capital murder.

In this episode, Mark shares his mission to help families navigate the complex behavioral health system. In 2016, he founded Drug and Alcohol Attorneys, and later co-founded Astor Simovitch Law with his wife, Audra, specifically to save families whose loved ones are struggling with substance use and failed recovery attempts. He also founded Baker Act Attorneys in 2020 to fight for those wrongfully detained in the mental health system.

We get into the nitty-gritty of the Baker Act vs. the Marchman Act, how guardianship works, and why the legal system needs a major overhaul to improve access to resources. Mark also drops some serious wisdom on why physical health fosters mental well-being—something he lives by as a Krav Maga instructor.

If you are looking for advice on legal intervention or just want to understand the system better, this episode is a must-listen.

Key Takeaways:

  • Family is Key: Mark emphasizes that the role of family is absolutely critical for effective recovery.

  • The Baker Act: Explaining how this allows the state to take custody of individuals in immediate mental health crises.

  • The Marchman Act: A deep dive into this act specifically designed for individuals struggling with substance use disorders.

  • Guardianship: How this legal tool can give families the control they need over a loved one’s decisions during a crisis.

  • Commitment is Crucial: Why treatment success is a marathon, not a sprint, and requires long-term dedication.

  • The Reality of Denial: Many individuals in treatment struggle to fully understand or accept their addiction.

  • Barriers to Care: We discuss the harsh reality that quality treatment is often financially inaccessible for many.

  • Systemic Change: Mark discusses why the legal system needs to evolve to better support mental health resources.

About the Guest:

Mark Astor is an attorney admitted to the Florida Bar, the U.S. District Court, the District of Columbia Bar, and the Massachusetts Bar. He holds a JD from Nova Southeastern University and an LLM from American University. Mark is known for his relentless commitment to securing releases for wrongfully detained individuals, day or night, and litigating against hospitals violating patient rights.
