It’s Time to Laugh—And Then Laugh Some More!

We’re serving up a heaping dose of hilarity with Maggie, the comedic dynamo straight out of Chicago! 🎤 This south side sensation didn’t find her calling in comedy until later in life—trading her “book club” wine glass for a mic and deadpan wit that will have you rolling in the aisles.

Here’s the deal:
Maggie’s sharp sarcasm and quick punchlines have graced Chicago’s top comedy hotspots like ZaniesLaugh Factory, and Comedy Bar. She’s also rocked private events, corporate gigs, and her own showcase production company, ALL THAT GOOD STUFF—because let’s face it, she knows how to bring the good stuff (and the laughs)!

But wait—Maggie’s no one-trick pony. When she’s not making people snort with laughter, she’s co-leading Bottomline Recruiting & Ellevate Staffing, two badass, female-owned firms specializing in tech and sales recruiting. Who says you can’t be a boss and a boss comedian?

Oh, and did we mention? Maggie’s mom has been sober for decades. Having a sober mom isn’t just awesome—it’s empowering. As Maggie says, “It gave me the freedom to be who I want and do whatever I want—like bomb at an open mic and then keep going!”

🎧 Tune in to this episode for laughs, inspiration, and the inside scoop on how comedy (and sobriety) pave the way for possibilities you never saw coming. Trust us—you don’t want to miss this one!

Spoiler alert: Maggie might just make you spit out your coffee.

In this episode, JF and I share the tools and strategies that have helped us stay sober from the very beginning of our recovery to today. Whether you're new to sobriety or a seasoned veteran, these tips will help you navigate the holiday season with confidence and joy!

Here are our top tips to stay grounded and sober during the holidays:

  1. Put Yourself First
Protect your sobriety like the precious gift it is! Think of it as caring for your loved ones—because when you prioritize your recovery, you’re able to show up for them fully.

  2. Have an Exit Plan
Holiday gatherings can be full of triggers. If you're feeling uneasy or anxious, don't hesitate to leave—or better yet, skip events that don’t support your well-being. Always have a trusted friend on standby to call when you need support without judgment.

  3. BYOD (Bring Your Own Drink)
Don’t leave your beverage options up to chance! Bring something festive you love, like our non-alcoholic “Mistletoe” mocktail. Recipe below!

  4. Stay Connected with Support
AA meetings are available around the clock during the holidays through in-person Alcathons and Zoom meetings. The beauty of Zoom? You can join in your pajamas without even brushing your teeth (a little humor to lighten the mood).

  5. Celebrate Yourself
Staying sober is an incredible accomplishment. Each sober hour, day, or week is the best gift you could ever give yourself. Be proud and take time to recognize your strength!

  6. Don’t Forget to Have Fun
Rule 62: Don’t take yourself too seriously. Celebrate your progress, embrace the joy of the season, and remember how far you’ve come

Mistletoe Mocktail Recipe

A fun and festive drink to enjoy at any holiday gathering!

    • Combine 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of water in a saucepan.

    • Add sliced jalapeños for a spicy kick or cranberries for a sweet twist.

    • Simmer until the sugar dissolves, then strain and cool.
