Deb's journey through addiction and her path to recovery began in Connecticut, where she resided for most of her life. For many years, her career revolved around sales and sales leadership. However, a pivotal shift occurred a few years ago when she redirected her focus towards endeavors that truly fulfill her soul: aiding individuals grappling with addiction, supporting nonprofit causes, and pursuing a career in writing.

In addition to writing, Deb is actively involved in community outreach programs and speaking engagements, aiming to destigmatize addiction and inspire hope through her story. She now resides in Longboat Key, FL.

Today’s episode I spoke to the founder Feragaia, he’s from Scotland and went to the University of Alabama and we had a really good time on the show. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. 

Bill’s previous job was selling beverages that contained alcohol and he saw that there was a missing piece. He saw that there was a need for a non-alcoholic beverage that not only doesn’t have alcohol, it is made in his home country of Scotland and contains the natural ingredients from his region. 

One thing that I absolutely love is that Bill made a product that tastes delicious and it doesn’t have sugar! It is delicious!

Episode 461 Nicole Pietrandrea Hough Founder and Editor-in-Chief of AFTER Alcohol-Free Magazine

It was great to meet Nicole, she got sober totally differently than I did. 

In 2020, upon admitting to herself that alcohol was not serving her or leading to the life she wanted to create, Nicole set out on a journey to figure out what things would look like alcohol-free. After an initially challenging time of change and introspection, Nicole eventually discovered the vibrant and rapidly growing alcohol-free community, both online and in person. This discovery—coupled with the realization that her new AF life held more beauty, depth, and joy than she ever imagined—inspired the creation of AFTER Magazine in 2022. The magazine’s mission is threefold: 1) to support people who might be searching for answers around their drinking and feeling alone, 2) to normalize sobriety and an alcohol-free lifestyle, and 3) to show just how amazing life can be AFTER giving up alcohol.

I am an alcoholic and the way I got sober was in the rooms of Alcoholics Anonymous, in fact that was really the only way in 2006! I broke up with alcohol for good almost 18 years ago and my life has been absolutely amazing ever since! 

I don’t poo-poo people getting sober in other ways. In fact I think that if you stop drinking when you obviously have a problem with alcohol is a good thing.
